Credits: 457 ![]() | in my opinion disney's best movie during their renaissance period or whatever they call it ('89-'99), and one of my most cherished movies of all time. this was the first movie i ever saw, and its one of those weird episodic memories walking with my mom into the theater to see it. its so sentimental to me, and i typically cry if i watch it alone because im a girl like that. anyway, here is the lion king. A young lion prince is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the "Circle of Life" This movie is up there with the greatest animated movies of all time, which is in a very prestigious group of other films like snow white, toy story, pocohantas, etc. I really do wish disney would focus back on their storyboard drawn animation movies, and i have high hopes for their new movie The Princess and the Frog because it looks like theyre takign that direction again, but we'll see. This movie is about loyalty and brotherhood, and is very much an adult movie as much as it is a kids movie. I dont think i will ever be too old to watch the lion king, and i cannot wait to show it to my children. The animation is done brilliantly, and has its own artistic style that perfectly emulates an indigenous africa. every scene is done so beautifully, and the opening scene, to me, is one of the most beautiful scenes in any movie ive ever seen, and is probably in contest with only one other scene that i can think of (a scene from LOTR) where itll make me cry just about everytime if im focused on the movie. if you dont believe me look for yourself: i give this movie: 9.8/10 im sure you all have seen it, but i urge you to go back and see it again. itll bring out the kid in you |
