Your profile says you're a female? I think we're going to have some problems then....

I saw that post. Surprised since you've been running it so long. I never looked at the server load issue although it would be one more reason not to use it on shared hosting.

hehe I know. It has actually really pissed me off LOL It is how I have it set up though causes a loop. I have everything in the /forums folder and the content and index files hacked to work outside the directory.

I just have to go in and change how it is. Just haven't had to much time.

Thank you very much for letting me know though! :)

Your sig now says "Especially Brandon".. is that the [you] code or intentional?

That's cool beans. I've been using a sub-domain for popular images and just embedding with the img tag, this way permissions don't apply. This is especially an issue with the CMS. If you deny "Can Download Attachments" to guests they cannot see image attachments or even thumbnails. That's pretty short sided on vB's part.

Say I put together a DJ Handbook PDF I don't want guests to be able to download it so I have to deny downloading privileges to them but that also means they cannot see attachment thumbnails which are attention grabbers. D'Oh.

Youch that's a whole lot of bandwidth. Have you checked out Cloud Flare? It's basiclly a free CDN that caches your graphics and such then serves them from a server closest to the surfer. It should save you quite a bit bandwidth. ;) There is an upsell for $20/mo but the free package works great.

I was running Cloud Flare with success on my DJ board but pulled it because the server was having issues and wanted to be sure it was the host before I started pissing and moaning about slow downs. I'll be reinstating Cloud Flare once things stableize with the host.

If you do decide to run Cloud Flare you will need to edit one of vB's files to get the IP address of the poster. If you don't you'll just get Cloud Flare IPs. It's a quick edit they've got an article on their wiki.

There's a WP plugin for CF too if you're interested.

Sweet. I'm starting to think in terms if you throw enough s*it at the wall something has to stick. :bowjapan:
